Solar lantern which can replace kerosene lamps

There is a big question mark on the design & quality of the solar lanterns being used in the initiatives like LABL. Has anybody did any study to find out, what happens to these lanterns after say 6 months, 12 months or 24 months of use. The implementing agencies should publish independent agency data on the life of such lanterns.
